Edna Ruth Holloman Taylor

Edna Holloman Taylor went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 8, 2023.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 11:00 am at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, 2800 Nash Street North, Wilson.  Rev. Brian Tippett will officiate.

The family will receive friends on Friday morning prior to the service 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson.

Other than being the best homemaker, wife, and mother, Edna worked with Capital Tire Company in Wilson for 20 years as the office manager and bookkeeper.  Upon her retirement she and husband, Tommy moved to the White Oak River in Swansboro where they had vacationed for many years.  Sunset was her favorite time.  She made sure to be finished with her daily chores and ready to sit back and watch the beautiful sunset over the river.  If any of the grandchildren or great-grandchildren were visiting, she would gather them around and share with them the beauty God had given them in that sunset.

Edna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.  She enjoyed time with family and friends, most often around the dining room table.  She served faithfully in her church as a Sunday School teacher, children’s mission leader, and nursery worker.  She loved an immaculate yard and had a passion for making it look the best.

Edna is survived by her daughters, Vickie Lynn Taylor of Wilson, and Bobbi Ann Raper and husband, Doug of Wilson; grandsons, Joseph John Sogluizzo and wife, Jennifer of Wilson, Wendell Spencer Manning, Jr. and wife, Amanda of Four Oaks, and Robert Thomas Manning and wife, Lori of Bailey; granddaughter, Rachel Nichole Warrick and husband, Jay of Goldsboro; eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; sister, Ann Braswell; and brother, Roger Holloman.

Edna was preceded in death by her loving husband of seventy-one years, Thomas “Tommy” Vick Taylor; great-granddaughter, Jasmine Pate; parents, Levi and Callie Holloman, and her sisters, Reba Renfrow, and Patsy Hinnant.
