Edward "Eddie" Malcolm Martin, Jr.

Edward “Eddie” Malcolm Martin, Jr., 70, of Wilson went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, October 30, 2023.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 2 at 6:30 pm at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.  Reverend Daylon Mooneyham and friend of the family, John Abernathy will officiate.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Joyner’s Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 6:15 pm.

Eddie graduated from Atlantic Christian College in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts in Ceramics.  He became a master potter and used his talent to glorify the Lord.  Through his talent of calligraphy, he carved scripture into each piece of pottery he produced.  Eddie had several pottery studios and shops, one of his most cherished being in Wilmore, Kentucky.

Eddie loved nothing more than spending time with Leighanna and Amelia and his grandchildren, especially at the beach.  He made all things lively.  Where Eddie was, joy abounded!

Eddie loved to “direct the show!”  He was always planning the next holiday dinner or get-together.

Eddie had a huge heart and loved to bless those around him.  He was generous to all and never met a stranger.  You could often find Eddie on a Saturday with his “Diet Coke” and cheering on the Clemson Tigers.

He was a faithful member of Catch the Fire Church in Raleigh.  More recently, he attended Farmington Heights Church of God where he was a member of their Senior Adult Fellowship.  Eddie was full of the Spirit and truly after the Lord’s heart.

Eddie is survived by his beloved former wife, Virginia Leigh Martin of Wilson; daughter, Leighanna Dandridge, her husband, Steven and their daughter, Ariah Leigh of Wilson; daughter, Amelia Bain, her husband, Jeffrey and their daughter Savannah Grace of Wilson; sister, Donna Sue Hartsell and her husband, Jerry; brother, Patrick Martin and his wife, Sharon; and brother, Chip Martin and his fiancé, Nikki.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Malcolm Martin and Hazel Stanford Martin.
