Eleanor Simpson Watson July 15, 1925 – January 9, 2017
Eleanor Simpson Watson, 91, of Lucama passed away Monday. Her funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will follow in Watson Family Cemetery, Lucama. The Rev. Kelly Smart will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home of her son, Tim, 6218 Lloyd Road, Lucama. Eleanor was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend to all that knew who. She was a member of Daniels Chapel Home Demonstration Club and a member of Springhill Presbyterian Church. Eleanor was a hard worker and was a former employee of J.C. Penny’s. One of her greatest passion was animals. Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Charlene Parris of Lucama; her sons, Timothy “Tim” Reuben Watson and wife, Sylvia of Lucama, and Luther Jeffery “Jeff” Watson and wife, Lisa of Lucama; grandchildren, Shawn Briscoe, Dee Dee Oliver and husband, Brian, Tracey Barnes and husband, Corey, Priscilla Watson Wicker, Derrick Watson and wife, Becky, and Ellyn Watson; eight great-grandchildren, and Sandy, her special pet companion. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Reuben Watson; grandson, Jamie Briscoe, her son-in-law, J.D. Parris; her parents, Oscar and Emma Simpson; her sisters, Maye Taylor, Lennie Kirby, Hazel Mercer, Layla Harrison, Voide Baker, and Grace Moore, and her brothers, Vollis Simpson, Daryl Simpson, Groves Simpson, and Dewey Simpson. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made in Eleanor’s honor to the Diabetes Foundation, 2418 Blue Ridge Road, Suite 206, Raleigh, North Carolina 27607 or the Alzheimer’s of North Carolina, 1305 Navaho Drive, Suite 101, Raleigh, North Carolina 27609.
