Eleanor Taylor Windham
November 30, 1915 – May 6, 2018
Eleanor Taylor Windham, 102, of Wilson passed away peacefully at her home. A private family service will be conducted at First Presbyterian Church.
Eleanor was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and grew up in Richmond, Virginia where she attended Collegiate Preparatory College. She was married to her late husband, Commander Albert C. Windham for sixty-four years. After his retirement from the Navy they settled in Chapel Hill and spent time between there and Vera Beach Florida. Eleanor loved Chapel Hill, playing bridge and the beach. She also enjoyed her morning coffee group. Her favorite moments were spent with her family. Eleanor treasured the moments with her great-grandchildren and she was so proud of all of them.
Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Nonie Windham Phillips of Wilson; granddaughters, Robin Williams and husband, Kent, and Kelly Gunter and husband, Jay both of Wilson; great-granddaughters, Austin Williams, and Sydney Williams both of Wilson, and her great-grandsons, A.J. Gunter and Eli Gunter both of Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Commander Albert C. Windham; parents, Allen and Lillie Mae Taylor; sister, Norma Taylor and son-in-law, Derring Phillips.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Eleanor’s memory to Wilson Education Partnership, 113 East Nash Street, Suite 316, Wilson, North Carolina 27893.
