Elizabeth Ashley Turner, 28, of Wilson, North Carolina passed away peacefully on November 22, 2024. Born on November 25, 1995, in Warner Robins, Georgia to Kelly Pollock Turner and William Lee Turner.
Elizabeth was a bright and loving daughter who brought joy to all who knew her. She graduated from James B. Hunt High School and pursued her passion for psychology at East Carolina University. While attending ECU she majored in Psychology and minored in Classical Studies and Criminal Justice. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a GPA of 3.75. Elizabeth continued her educational journey by receiving her master’s degree in forensic psychology from George Washington University in Washington, DC. with a 3.92 GPA.
She worked in the mental healthcare field holding various positions including mental health coordinator, youth counselor, and QP supervisor. Her passion for her clients was reflected by the friendships she made along the way and the love her clients showed her.
Although she pursued psychology, her true passion was writing. Elizabeth was an avid reader and writer, with over 30 short stories, and poems. She was the 2010 Winner of the National Novel Writing Month in the NaNoWriMo Writing Program. She had begun writing her first novel completing the first six chapters.
She packed so much life into her twenty-eight years. She wasn’t afraid to chase her dreams, loved musicals, singing, and traveling. She traveled to Europe and surrounding countries including Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and France, where she was able to see the Eiffel Tower in person, her number one bucket list item. She rode elephants in Thailand, snorkeled in the Bahamas, fed llamas in Colorado, swam with seals and explored caves by canoe in California. She recently traveled to Miami Florida to see one of her favorite artists, Taylor Swift, followed by an immediate trip to Las Vegas to attend a music festival that had other of her favorite artists.
She is survived by her mother and best friend, Kelly Pollock Turner of Wilson; her father, William Lee Turner and wife, Stephanie of Lucama; step-sisters Kaitlyn Bracey and Lauren Bracey both of Lucama; her paternal grandparents, Danny and LouAnn Turner of Lucama; her aunt, “Ping” Pam Poole (Louis) of Richmond, Virginia; uncles, Tony Pollock (Lucinda) and Mike Pollock (Debbie) of Stantonsburg, and close cousins and friends. She is also survived by her paternal step-grandparents, Judy and Kevin Ferguson, and Steve and Linda Wiggins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Charles and Ann Pollock; paternal grandmother, Shelia Turner and fur baby Buster.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 27, 20024 in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. Rev. DeWayne Eakes will officiate.
The family will receive friends Wednesday morning from 11:30 – 1:30 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.
