Erwin Brasca Pittman, Jr.

Erwin Brasca Pittman, Jr. passed away Thursday, December 17, 2015. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 3 – 5 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. A memorial service for Erwin will be held at a later date.
Erwin was born March 16, 1938 in Wilson and he graduated from Charles L. Coon High School in 1956. He served in the Air Force as a Pilot in the Strategic Air Command based in Mountain Home, Idaho. Erwin was commissioned in 1960 and honorably discharged on January 7, 1965. He joined TransWorld Airlines on January 11, 1965, reaching the rank of International Captain, retiring in 1999.
Erwin is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Teresa Bryan Burchette Pittman of Enfield; his daughters, Rosalind Teresa Pittman Bauman and husband, Jerre of Longmont, Colorado, and Joetta Lee Pittman of Wilson; six grandchildren, Andrew Jerre William Bauman, Austin Erwin Bauman, Alexander Bryan Bauman, Alyssa Rosalind Bauman, Susan Elizabeth Stoner, and Jonathan Allen Stoner; his sister, Rosalind Bryan Pittman Reading and husband, Van of Virginia Beach, Virginia; brother, Dr. William Bryan Pittman and wife, Celeste of Rocky Mount; one niece, three nephews, three grand-nieces and three grand-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Erwin Brasca Pittman, former Mayor of Wilson and Rosalind Jarmon Bryan Pittman.
