Essie Wells Nichols, 98, of Sims passed away Friday.  Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at Marsh Swamp Original Free Will Baptist Church.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The Rev. Ray Wells will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday following the service at Marsh Swamp Original Free Will Baptist Church, 6664 Rock Ridge School Road, Sims and other times at the home. Essie was a lifelong member of Marsh Swamp Original Free Will Baptist Church.  She enjoyed flowers, working in her garden, cooking and keeping in touch with her friends.  Essie was a loving wife, grandmother, sister, friend and devoted mother.  She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed and thought of often with memories that will bring smiles, tears and laughter that will warm the heart. Essie is survived by her daughter, Jean N. Wilson of Wilson; her son, Floyd C. Nichols and wife, Aldaree of Winston Salem; grandsons, Frederick C. Nichols and wife, Selah of Winston Salem and William J. Nichols of Winston Salem; her great-granddaughters, Katelen B. Williams  and Kristin B. Wishon; her brother, Kenneth R. Wells of Sims and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd C. Nichols; her daughter, Janice Marie Nichols; her grandson, Floyd Charles Nichols; her parents, Stephen Branch Wells and Kate Coleman Wells; her sisters, Evelyn W. Davis and Ruby W. Flowers and her brothers, Roy Wells and Marvin Wells.
