Evelyn Mae Edgerton

Evelyn Mae Edgerton, 93, of Wilson passed away Thursday, January 16, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2025 in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson. Rev. Matthew Spencer will officiate. 

The family will receive friends Monday afternoon, from 12 – 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.

 Evelyn was a woman of faith. She loved the Lord and served the church for many years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother with a heart to serve her family. She was an excellent cook and homemaker. She loved and cared for her family deeply. She served as Clerk of Court in Wayne County for many years. She will be greatly missed but not forgotten.

 Evelyn is survived by her loving husband of seventy-four years, James “Jimmy” Ray Edgerton; daughter, Mary Lou Aldridge of Kinston; son, James “Jay” Edgerton and wife, Diane of Hendersonville, Tennessee; granddaughters, Amy Crow and husband, Justin, Beth Seymour and husband, Allen, and Jennifer Selph and husband, Derrick, Mellissa Joyner and husband, Raymond, Amanda Edgerton and husband, Mitchell, and Faith Edgerton; and her grandsons, Matthew Garrett and wife, Cindi-Jean, Heber Aldridge and wife, Jenna, and Christopher Edgerton and wife, Tan; fifteen great-grandchildren, and son-in-law, Robert Garrett. 

Preceded in death by her daughter, Marsha Garrett; son-in-law, Heber Aldridge; sister, Lee Watson and brother, Robert Walston.
