Evelyn Christine Johnson April 15, 1930 – November 22, 2018 Evelyn Christine Johnson, 88 of Wilson passed away Thursday. Her funeral services will be conducted at 5 p.m. Sunday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. The Rev. Wayne Whitley will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday evening immediately following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Phyllis R. Johnson of Wilson and significant other, Tom Ruffin; son, Douglas K. Johnson and wife, Marilyn of Bryson City; grandsons, Douglas K. Johnson, II of Virginia and Matthew Benjamin Johnson of Lucama; great-grandson, Julian Johnson; sister, Shirley Johnson of Selma; brothers, Robert “Jimmy” Corbett of Clinton, Earl Corbett of Virginia and Ricky Corbett of Texas; two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Johnson; parents, Ivey and Jessie Mae Bailey Corbett and her sister, Iva Mae Corbett.
