Everett Damon Pope, age 28, passed from this life and into the next, Thursday, November 14, 2024.
Everett was born on May 2, 1996, in Raleigh, North Carolina, the son of Amy and Damon Pope. He graduated from Millbrook High School in 2014. He attended Caldwell Community College in Boone, North Carolina before transferring to Front Range Community College in Fort Collins, Colorado, where he moved to be near his parents. He worked as a Hydroponic Grower in Colorado. In 2019 Everett joined his parents in Wilson. He worked as a Lab Technician extracting oil from hemp. In 2022 his company closed, and Everett moved to Seattle to pursue a job opportunity and to be near his sister who lives there. In April of 2023 Everett was seriously injured at work. After a five-week hospital stay he returned to Wilson to receive care from his parents. Everett never fully recovered from his injury.
In his too short life, Everett gave us many memories. He was a loving and caring son and brother who loved the beach, target shooting and cooking. Everett was an Eagle Scout at Troop 364 in Raleigh. He went on two high adventure trips, scuba diving in the Bahamas and backpacking at Philmont. Everett was a real patriot who loved his country. He spent the last three weeks of the election going door to door in a get out the vote campaign. He earned enough money trading in Crypto Currency to buy his own place at the beach. That’s where Everett was the happiest, running ten miles on the beach, paddle boarding and kayaking.
Everett was preceded in death by his longtime companion, a cat named Lily.
He is survived by his parents, Amy and Damon Pope, his sister, Sydney Pope and Graham Miller, of Seattle, WA, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Everett will live in our hearts forever. He will always be loved and never be forgotten. His passing leaves a giant hole in our lives. In lieu of flowers please donate to Waymakers of Wilson. https://waymakersofnc.org
