Frank Joyner
September 19, 1946 – December 8, 2020
Frank Joyner, 74 of Bailey passed to his heavenly home on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, after a brief illness.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at Rock Springs FWB Church Cemetery, Bailey at a later date due to current COVID-19 restrictions.
Frank was born September 19, 1946, in Nash County, son of late George Oliver Joyner and Anna Perkins Joyner. Frank never met a stranger. He loved an introduction or greeting and always had a quip at the ready. Many of these happenstance meetings turned into lifelong friends.
Before retirement, he was hard-working in his own business as a drywall contractor for forty years. Frank enjoyed cooking, grilling chicken with his homemade hot sauce, baking cakes, and sharing with his friends at Dr. Burdick’s office, the bank, or Rock Springs Free Will Baptist Church. So many community friends and family were the recipients of his simple, delicious food. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time at his home at Cape Carteret.
In addition to his parents, Frank was predeceased by his beloved wife, Betty Joan Joyner, who died of ALS in December 2018. He was a tireless caregiver and his faith in God grew deeper through his adversity with the help of his Rock Springs Church family. Frank and Joan also suffered the loss of their two sons, Michael Frank Joyner, and Brian Keith Joyner; his brothers, George Oliver Joyner Jr., Melvin Costin, and Alton Costin and sisters, Dovie Finch and Nettie Bissette.
Surviving are his sister, Joyce Brantley, and sister-in-law, Jean Costin both of Bailey and his special friend, Carolyn Rogers of Middlesex; also, his many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly and his wife’s family who loved him unconditionally.
Memorials are suggested to Rock Springs FWB Church, PO Box 238, Bailey, North Carolina 27807, or a charity of your choice.
