  Fred Hilton Barnes, 86, of Wilson passed away Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Avante in Wilson.  The funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Joyner’s Funeral Home.   The graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2014 in Maplewood Cemetery.  The Rev. Joe Shakour will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon immediately following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home. He was born August 6, 1927 in Wilson County. Fred was the son of the late William Oscar Barnes and Dolly Driver Barnes Jomp.  He retired from Braswell Equipment Company. Fred is survived by his daughters, Ann B. Hines and husband, Regie of Saraland, AL and Linda B. Sherrod of Lucama; his son, Glenn Barnes and wife, Tammi of Lucama; his six grandchildren; his nine great-grandchildren and sisters Marie Shealy of Wilson, Virginia Campbell of Rocky Mount, and Ann Kennedy of Greenville. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-four years, Martha Evans Barnes; his son, Fred H. Barnes, Jr. “Freddie”; his sister, Emma Evans and his brothers, Floyd Barnes and William O. Barnes, Jr. The family would like to give special thanks to caregiver, Robin Clements and special thanks to Avante at Wilson Comfort Care and the special nurses who loved and comforted us all.  In addition, special thanks to Gladys Webb, who he loved dearly.
