Gamaliel "Joe" Duvoil Batten

Gamaliel Duvoil Batten July 13, 1921 – December 25, 2016 Gamaliel Duvoil “Joe” Batten, 95, of Wilson passed away Sunday. His funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Entombment will follow in Bailey Town Cemetery, Bailey. The Rev. LaVon Phillips will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1 – 1:45 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Joe is survived by his wife, Marie B. Batten of the home; his step-daughter; two step-sons; five step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; his sister, Laverne B. Lee, and his brother, Edward R. Batten and wife, Audrey. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Easterbelle Lamm Batten; his parents, Fred and Nettie Davis Batten; his sisters, Alberta B. Braswell, Sadie B. Wright, Katie Belle B. Braswell, Gaynelle B. Herring, and Voncile B. Boswell, and one step-son. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be directed to the Farmington Heights Church of God, 910 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson, North Carolina 27896.
