Gene Autry Nichols October 20, 1937 – October 14, 2020 Gene Autry Nichols, 82 of Wilson passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2020. His graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in the Holly Springs Church Cemetery, 80 Beulahtown Road, Kenly. Gene served his country with honor and pride with the US Army for twenty years before retirement. He was a veteran. He is survived by his wife, Janie Nichols of the home; son, Robert M. Nichols of York Town, Virginia; daughter, Kelly L. Nichols of Newport News, Virginia; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; step-children, Randy Fulghum and wife, Timberly; Donna Taylor and husband, Gary, and Mark Fulghum and wife, Vicki; sister, Diane Jarrell and nieces and nephews, Brenda Devaughn, Eleanor Pippin, Crystal Ivey and Jonathon Durham. He was preceded in death by his parents, Talmadge and Orabelle Cuddington Nichols; sister, Joyce Watson and nephew, Eugene Watson.
