June 6, 1949 – July 22, 2014

George Samuel “Sam” Hedgepeth, 65, of Lucama passed away Tuesday.  Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home.  A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday in Red Oak Cemetery, Red Oak.  The Rev. Dr. DeWayne Eakes will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday evening immediately following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Sam was a Vietnam Veteran who served his country with honor and pride with the US Air Force.  He was an avid NASCAR fan and a member of Little Rock Original Free Will Baptist Church. Sam is survived by his wife, Yvonne Hedgepeth of the home; his step-daughters, Anita Horton of Clayton and Deana Horne and husband, Chris of Jacksonville; his granddaughters, Lucy Rose Horne and Lily Anne Horne, and his brothers, Philip Earl Hedgepeth and wife, Nancy of Newton and Ronald Nicholson Hedgepeth and wife, Marilyn of Battleboro. He was preceded in death by his parents, Osmond “Doc” and Ora Mae Hedgepeth. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be directed to Little Rock OFWB Church, Building Fund, PO Box 340, Lucama, NC  27851.
