George Carlton Johnson May 20, 1928 – March 16, 2020 George Carlton Johnson, 91 of Wilson passed away Monday. His service will be at held at 11 a.m. Friday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery, 4151 Salem Road, Oxford. Rev. Wayne Whitley will officiate. George retired in 1978 from the North Carolina DMV License and Theft Division as a Sargent with twenty-five years of service. He was a devoted UNC fan and an avid golfer at Willow Springs Country Club. The family will receive friends Friday morning from 10 – 10:45 a.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. George is survived by his sister, Betty Johnson Rutledge of Wilson and his nephews, Marty Ray Johnson and wife, Cathy of Wilson and George Daniel Johnson and wife, Mary of Wilson; great-niece, Megan Lamm and husband, Shaun; great nephew, Tyler Johnson and fiancé, Carolina Arizpe and family friend, Bruce Crews and wife, Mildred of Granville County.
