George Turner, Jr.
April 24, 1925 – October 21, 2016
George” Punk” Turner, 91, of Stantonsburg, went to be with Jesus, his Lord and Savior Friday October 21, 2016 while surrounded by his family. A celebration service of his life will be conducted 7:00 p.m. Monday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. The Pastor Patsy Jones will officiate.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.
Affectionately known by most as “Mr. Punk”, he was a good Christian man who loved the Lord, loved his family and loved music. He lived a life that left an everlasting impression on everyone who met him.
George is survived by his wife, Elsie “Dixie” Strickland Turner, two daughters; Patsy Jones and husband, Jimmy of Wilson, and Vicki Jones of Wilson, two sons; Bruce Turner and wife, Rosemarie of Wilson, and James Earl Turner and wife, Sandy of Saratoga; sister Frankie Boykin of Bailey; eleven grandchildren, and eighteen great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. George W. Sr. and Julianne Turner, and two sisters.
