G.L. Bissette

G.L. Bissette, 73, of Bailey passed away Friday. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Bailey Town Cemetery, Bailey. The Rev. Randy Stallings will officiate. The family will receive friends 6 – 8 p.m. Monday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at 9327 Glover Road, Bailey. G.L. was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all that knew him. He will be greatly missed and thought of often with memories that will warm the heart. G.L. served his country honorably for over 30 years with the US Army and NC National Guard. He served over seas during the Persian Gulf War. He was also member of the Bailey Fire Department. G.L. is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sherry Earp Bissette of the home; sons, David Bissette and wife, Melanie of Bailey and Billy Bissette of the home; granddaughter, Stephanie Bissette and grandson, Logan Bissette of Bailey; sister, Inez B. Underwood and husband, Daylon of Clayton; brothers, Lewis Bissette and wife, Neva of Missouri, Mitch Bissette and wife, Lorraine of Bailey, Jay Bissette and wife, Joyce of Bailey, Brooks Bissette and wife, Bonnie of Bailey and Harvey Bissette, Jr. of Bailey; his two “special” grandchildren, Justin and Joseph Bray and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, Harvey Bissette and Nettie Joyner Bissette; sister, Willistine Flowers and two infant sisters.
