Glynda Carol Smith Pittman March 14, 1947 – May 3, 2018 Glynda Carol Smith Pittman, 71, of Wilson passed away Thursday. Her funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at Daniels Chapel FWB Church, 4828 Frank Price Church Road, Wilson. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. The Rev. Bill Groce will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 – 9 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home, Wilson. Carol was a faithful servant who was very active as a Sunday School Teacher, served in various offices for the State Women’s Auxiliary, a choir member, and served on several committees both in the church and community. She has always loved children and worked hard to help shape their lives in both church and public education. She was a phenomenal mother and enjoyed her grandchildren immensely. Carol was a wonderful wife and supported her husband throughout his work life. Over the last few years she and her husband, Charles had been enjoying retirement with traveling and spending time in the mountains around Boone. Carol’s family and serving God were everything to her. Carol is survived by her loving husband of 51years, Charles Pittman, III of the home; daughter, Glynda Pittman Westerbeek and husband, Pieter of Cary; her son, Charles Walt Pittman, IV and wife, Angie of Lucama; grandchildren, Caroline Pittman, Anna Grace Pittman, Pieter Westerbeek, and Laura Cate Westerbeek; sister, Cathy Sullivan and husband, Earl of Lucama; brother, Seth Osborne Smith and wife, Frances of Lucama; her step-father, James Thomas Lamm of Wilson; her aunt, Brenda Scott;Saima Kaehlert, foreign exchange daughter, and her sister-in-law, Jo Smith She was preceded in death by her parents, Bruce and Mildred Scott Smith, and brother, Randy Scott Smith.
