Gurney Carroll Deans June 8, 1946 – September 20, 2018 Gurney Carroll Deans, 72, of Wilson passed away Thursday. A memorial service will be conducted at 5 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, 5260 Old Raleigh Road, Wilson. The family will receive friends Thursday evening following the service in the church fellowship hall and other times at the home of his daughter, Stephanie. Carroll is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Deans Hales and husband, Chris of Lucama; his sons, Bryan Carroll Deans of Wilson and Jeffrey Yates at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Christopher, Cody, and Caleb Hales; Jessica and Jordan Yates; his sisters, Nelda Howell and husband, Jerry of Wilson and Dianne Phillips and husband, Bob of Cary; his special life time friend, Caroline Wilson and several nieces and nephews.
