Harold Braxton Turner, age 89, entered the gates of Heaven from his home in Fremont, on Tuesday, May 30, 2023.
A US Veteran, avid Atlanta Braves fan, and a faithful member of Watery Branch Free Will Baptist in Stantonsburg. Mr. Turner was born July 23, 1933 in Wilson County, to the late Harry Franklin Turner and Rachel Holloman Turner. Young and in love, he married his late wife, Margie Tomlinson Turner and upon returning home from the Army, Mr. Turner started driving trucks and making regular runs to Pennsylvania as well as local runs for Merck. A lover of good southern food, he was always up and ready for lunch or dinner at either Parkers, McCall’s, Western Sizzlin, Golden Corral, or Amy Jo’s.
Mr. Turner is survived by his children, Larry Turner (Sue), and Teresa Coty (Doug); grandchildren, Melissa McHenry (Mike), Tyler Turner, Kimberly Molina (Jesus), and Kristal Coty-Long (Aaron); brothers, Millard, Wayne (Diane), and Don (Trudy); sisters, Marie Johnson, and Lib Barden; along with six great-grandchildren, Cole Turner, Bentley, Jaxson, & Brixten McHenry, Elias Long, & Emery Molina.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Margie; parents Harry and Rachel Turner, and brothers, Doug, Russell, Paul, and Preston.
The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 9:30 – 10:45 at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. Rev. Allen Stanley and Rev. Tony Parrish will officiate.
