Harold Eugene Williams Sr.

Harold Eugene Williams Sr. November 27, 1935 – November 30, 2016 Harold Eugene Williams, Sr., 81, of Wilson, peacefully went home to meet the Lord on Wednesday, November 30, 2016. The family will receive friends Saturday at noon till 1:45 prior to the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home of Harold and Diane Williams. Eugene, as he was known to his friends, was born on November 27, 1935 to Alson and Delta Williams. Of modest means, Eugene was raised to understand the value of hard work and the feeling of accomplishment you get from it and passed the value along to his sons. A truck driver by trade, Eugene made his final trip seven weeks prior to his passing. He had a unique understanding of his role for every company he represented and did so with the upmost respect, commitment and professionalism. Eugene also shared a passion for children with, the love of his life, Jeanette. Together, they operated Jeanette Williams Day Care for more than 30 years, where he was known as “Mr. Green Jeans” to hundreds of children that they had the great pleasure to care for. Although their passion for children led them to open a business to care for them, their desire to brighten the lives of ALL children was a life-long journey that started with volunteering to provide off-campus weekend care at the local Children’s Home, years of providing foster care and numerous Children’s ministries at their church. Eugene enjoyed woodworking, baking cakes, fellowship with his family and friends and his love of the Lord. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports and other activities. A long-time member of First Free Will Baptist Church, Eugene took great pride in contributing his God given talents to support his church family and friends. Often first to arrive and last to leave, he lived his life with a servant’s heart and worked every day to be an example to all who knew him. Eugene is survived by his sons, Harold Williams, Jr. and his wife, Diana of Wilson, Chris Williams and his wife, Suni of Wilson; grandchildren, Cameron Williams, Brice Williams, Zack Williams, Moreland Williams and Emma Grace Williams, all of Wilson; canine companion, Buddy; his sisters, Betty Ann Ragland and husband, Ronald of Raleigh, Janet Ferrell of Smithfield; sisters-in-law, Myrtle Williamson of Wilson and Betty Lou Cox of Wilson; special friend, Joyce Rhodes of Wilson; special friends the “old timers”, Jerry and Felicia Williams, Lannis and Myrtle Watson, James High, Erlene Batten, Judy Jones and Lyman Bogue, and a host of nieces, nephews, classmates, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Evans Williams and his parents, Alson and Delta Williams. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be directed to First Free Will Baptist Church, 4865 Nash Street, NW, Wilson, North Carolina 27896.
