Hazel Lucas. Batchelor
October 5, 1924 – December 27, 2017
Hazel Lucas Batchelor, 93, of Lucama went to be with her Lord on Wednesday while at her home surrounded by her loving family. Her funeral services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Friday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Graveside service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Thompson Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery, 5620 Thompson Chapel Road, Wilson. The Rev. Marvin Smith and Rev. David Varnell will officiate.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home, 7040 Gourd Branch Road, Lucama.
Hazel is survived by her children, Thomas E. Batchelor of Lucama, Donald R. Batchelor and wife, Joyce of Middlesex, Brenda Lynch of Lucama, James W. Batchelor of Wilson, Bernice B. Bunn and husband, Jay of Lucama, Ronnie K. Batchelor and wife, Marsha of Smithfield, Phillip L. Batchelor and wife, Patricia of Lucama, Deborah B. Mangum and husband, Nelson of Lucama, and Michael D. Batchelor and wife, Karla of Pikeville; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Batchelor, Jr.; her son, James Lee Batchelor; grandson, Stevie Warrick; great-grandson, Ronnie Tanner Vick; parents, Sidney Dewitt Lucas and Susie Barnes Lucas, and three sisters.
The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude for the loving care given by Community Hospice and Life Care Hospital of Rocky Mount during her time of need.
