Hazel Finch Layton
February 18, 1920 – September 24, 2016
Hazel Finch Layton, daughter of the late W. T. Finch and Beulah Lamm Finch was born February 18, 1920 in Wilson. She was a graduate of Rock Ridge High School and had retired from Roses, Inc. in 1988. Mrs. Layton was a lifelong resident of Wilson County but had lived in Stockbridge, Georgia for the last few years.
Hazel loved Wilson and the Lamm’s crossroads community. She and her family were beloved by neighbor and friends. She was always concerned with the well-being of others and willing to help her neighbors. Cooking was another passion of hers, and her kitchen was never closed if you visited. Her generous spirit and pleasant personality came natural to her. Her Christian life was as beautiful as her garden and the flowers that she loved so well. Hazel was a member of Milbournie Free Will Baptist Church for more than fifty years; the church and her faith had a special place in her heart.
Hazel’s family was her greatest treasure and always enjoyed time with them. She was a care taker of her parents and siblings. Hazel will forever be cherished in the lives of her three children; James Flowers and wife, Kathy of McDonough, Georgia, Judith White and husband, Charlie of Clemson, South Carolina, and Steven Flowers and wife, Cathy of Annandale, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Crisco of Stockbridge, Georgia, Cindy Hale of Dublin, Virginia, Greg White of Clemson, South Carolina, Jason White of Clemson, South Carolina, Christopher Flowers of Brambleton, Virginia, Brandon Flowers of Alexandria, Virginia, and Andrew Flowers of Raleigh, and ten beautiful great grandchildren.
Hazel passed in her sleep and departed this life on Saturday, September 24, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Layton and her siblings, Josephine Finch, Inez Finch, Harold Finch, Horace Finch, and Charles Finch.
