Henry E. Phillips November 5, 1949 – June 3, 2020 Henry E. Phillips, 70 of Bailey passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2020. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Interment will follow in Marsh Swamp FWB Church Cemetery, Rock Ridge. Pastor Anderson Barnes and Dr. Ronnie Aycock will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 1 – 1:45 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Henry was a long-time member and deacon of New Sandy Hill OFWB Church, Sunday School teacher for fifty years, choir member and held many offices within the church. He was a long time, active member of the Wilson County Republican Party Executive Committee. He served on District 2 and 13 executive committee as well as the state committee. He was a volunteer of the Republican Museum of NC and instrumental in its history collection. Henry is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Bernice Phillips of the home; his sisters, Edith Howell, Dora Carter and Anne Shinn all of Bailey and Loretta Thigpen of Wilson and a host of loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving and best son ever, Alvin Patrick Phillips; parents, “Charlie” and Annie Lee Phillips; sisters, Peggy Aycock and Phyllis Bissette; one great nephew and his in-laws, Bernice and Almer Brewer.
