Herbert Henry Harriss, III

Herbert Henry Harriss, III, 77, of Angier, passed away Tuesday. A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at Angier United Methodist Church, 278 S. Wilma St., Angier, NC, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. A graveside service will be held 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Maplewood Cemetery, 400 College St., Wilson, NC. The family will receive friends 2:30 – 3 p.m. Saturday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Henry was a graduate of Woodberry Forest School in Virginia and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. Following graduation from UNC, Henry served in the United States Navy, where he was a graduate of the OCS. He graduated from Campbell University with an MBA degree at the age of 55. Henry was an active member of Angier United Methodist Church. He was very involved in volunteer work, both at the church and in the community. He enjoyed playing golf and watching Carolina basketball and football games. Henry was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Surviving are his wife of fifty years, Patricia Bridgers Harriss of the home; two daughters, Mary Snow Hill and husband, Bill of Greenville, and Bridget Stewart and husband, George of Angier; two sons, William Harriss and wife, Cristen of Clayton, and Nathan Harriss and wife, Wendy of Key Largo, FL; three grandsons, Matthew, George Jr., and Zander; a sister, Snow Vann of Winston-Salem; and two brothers, Ted Harriss of Richmond, VA and Robert Harriss of San Antonio, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Henry Harriss, Jr. and Mariana Hooks Harriss. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Angier United Methodist Church, 278 S.
