Horace Lee Evans
December 28, 1939 – June 23, 2016
Horace “Lee” Evans, 76, of Wilson passed away Wednesday at home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Ellen Evans; his wife and the love of his life, Faye Evans, and brother, J.T. Evans.
Lee is survived by his children, Donna Carter (Stanley), and Jeff Evans (Jane) both of Wilson; three grandchildren, Payton Carter, Laura Evans and Andrew Evans all of Wilson; his beloved “boy” BoBo; sister, LouAnn Proctor (Elton); brother, Wayne Evans (Annette), and his best friends, Tim Moore, Al Hodge, Charlotte and Elvin Pender, and Joyce and Floyd Bridgers.
Lee loved cooking barbecue chicken and his famous beef brisket on the grill, and cutting his grass with his John Deere lawn mower. Without a doubt he is making sure Jesus has a beautiful yard. Lee loved his sweet dog, BoBo more than anything. He will be greatly missed and thought of often.
The family will receive friends 6 – 8 p.m. Saturday evening at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the family home.
A celebration of Lee’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson. Pastor Scott Sauls will officiate.
