Hortense Owens Ford August 31, 1924 – May 3, 2018 Hortense Owens Ford, 93, of Rocky Mount passed away Thursday. Her funeral services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Saturday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Owens Family Cemetery, Gardner School Road, Wilson. Rev. Floyd Holmes and Donnie Tolson will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday evening following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson, and other times at the home. Hortense is survived by her sons, Britton Ford and wife, Dare of Elm City, and Timmy Ford of Rocky Mount; her daughters, Sue Champion, and Vanessa Griffin both of Rocky Mount; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, and her daughter-in-law, Carol Ford of Goose Creek, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland Ford; son, Larry Ford; her parents, Rom and Sudie Owens; brother, Carlton Owens, and Leonard Owens; sister, Thelma Newcomb; son-in-law, Sam, daughter-in-law, Deborah, and grandson, Kenneth Ford.
