Howard Thomas Whitley
July 29, 1935 – July 23, 2020
Howard Thomas Whitley, 84 of Wilson passed away Thursday. His funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson. The Rev. Charles Love and Rev. Craig Simmons will officiate.
The family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 1 – 1:45 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road, Wilson.
Howard was the co-owner of The Creamery for forty-seven years. A member of the First Free Will Baptist Church for fifty-three years where he served his Lord. Howard was the head chairman for the Kim Whitley Christian Endowment. He enjoyed all sports and was an avid golf player. Howard was dearly loved and will be greatly missed and thought of often with wonderful memories.
Howard is survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Geraldine “Gerry” Lamm Whitley of the home; son, Mark Whitley and wife, Caroline of St. Pauls; granddaughter, Holland Amanda Whitley and his sisters, Shirley Behrens and June Holland both of Jacksonville, Florida and Brenda Vanderpool and husband, Chester of Lucama.
He was preceded in death by his daughters, Tammie Ellen Whitley and Kimberley Lynn Whitley and his parents, Harvey Thomas and Estelle Ferrell Whitley.
