Irene Holcombe Mullikin, 92, of Wilmington, formerly of Wilson passed away Monday. A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday in Evergreen Memorial Park. The Rev. Carol W. Dean will officiate. “Granny” was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She had a strong faith in the Lord. Irene is survived by her daughters, Julia Batchelor of Nashville and Janice Carver and husband, Steve of Wilmington; her grandchildren, Joy Joyner and husband, Greg of Wilmington, Leigh Ann Lawrence and husband, Tim of Cumming, Georgia, Glen Batchelor and wife, April of Wilmington and James David “Jim” Batchelor of N. Attleboro, Massachusetts; her great-grandchildren, Paige, Logan, Hayleigh, Dakota, Naomi, Sarah, David and Ricky and her great-great-granddaughter, Bayleigh Grace. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Wade Allen Mullikin; parents, Coy and Lilly McCall Holcombe; her sisters, Billie, Matt and Emily; her brothers, Jim and J.B. and her son-in-law, Rudy Batchelor. The Mullikin family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff of Lower Cape Fear Hospice for the care provided to “Granny”.
