Jack Belvin Smith
August 30, 1945 – November 6, 2017
Jack Belvin Smith, 72, of Wilson went to be with his heavenly father on Monday. His funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. The Rev. John Check and Rev. Darrel Bowles will officiate.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home.
Jack was owner and operator of a backhoe service. He was chairman of the board of Silver Lake Volunteer Fire Department. Jack served his country with honor and pride with the US Army. Jack was member of Hornes United Methodist Church, where he was a Lay Leader who shared his faith and opened his heart to many people in the community. Jack organized the Hornes Church Disaster Team. He will always be in our memories and in our hearts. Jack was dearly loved and will be greatly missed and thought of often with wonderful memories.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of thirty-seven years, Jean Smith of the home; his daughter, Angela Smith of Wilmington; his sisters, Connie Eason and husband, Russell, Linda Matthews and husband, Mark both of Wilson, and Fran Adams of Florida; Kelly and Donna Teague, who he loved like a son and daughter, and Kevin Teague, his grandson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Smith; his mother, Susie Brewer and step-father, Henry, and special parents, Elmo and Fannie Skinner.
