James Melvin Bass

James Melvin Bass September 13, 1941 – April 18, 2016 James Melvin Bass, 74, of Rocky Mount passed away Monday. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Evergreen Memorial Park, 2800 Nash Street, Wilson. The Major Jim Bovender will officiate. Melvin is survived by his son, Kyle Bass and wife, Robin of Wilson; his granddaughter, Bryson Bass of Wilson; his grandson, Dillon Bass of Wilmington, and his brothers, Don Bass and wife, Trudy of Wilson and Robert Bass and wife, Charlotte of Cornelius. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Edgar Bass and Geneva Johnson Bass. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials in Melvin’s honor to the Volunteer Fund, SECU Hospice House, PO Box 1376, Smithfield, North Carolina 27577.
