James Whitley Britt July 7, 1931 – November 21, 2016 James Whitley Britt, 85, of Sharpsburg passed away Monday. His funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. The Rev. Rusty Russell and Rev. Kenneth Williams will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1 – 1:45 p.m. Saturday afternoon prior to the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. James served his country with honor and pride with the U.S. Navy and he was a man with much grace and love for life. Our hearts are lifted because he is at peace with the Lord. James is survived by his son, James Haywood Britt of Myrtle Beach; his grandson, James Haywood Britt, Jr. of Sims; granddaughters, Angela Irene Britt, Brandy Lynn Britt, Crystal Marie Britt, and Danielle Julie Britt all of Wilmington; his sister, Alice Oakes of Ivor, Virginia, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo Leonard Britt and Mary Anna Whitley Britt; his siblings, Josie Butler, Gracie Story, Herbert Britt, Lloyd Britt and Archie Britt.
