On Saturday August 5th, 2017, the world lost an incredible man. James Ray Cornett loved his family more than anything in the world. He was the rock. Handsome, caring, goofy and totally amazing…that was James. From a very young age James was labeled class clown, but no one could deny his grin that could melt your heart. He was the man every woman wanted, and every man dreamed to be. He could fix anything and soothe anyone. He taught his daughter how to build things and his son how to love. The James philosophy for life was simple…HAVE FUN! Love family, laugh and ride hard. He was the protector, provider, go-to-man for his wife, kids, mom, sisters, and friends. James filled big shoes that can never be replaced but as long as we have family we have it all. You will be deeply missed and never forgotten. James, you are immortal in our hearts and minds. We love you because you loved us. James is now walking hand in hand with his beloved grandmother, Dorothy Jean Perry. He has probably already painted her nails pink and is sitting in her lap twirling her hair.
James will be laid to rest by family and dear friends. Serving as pall bearers are Johnny Perry, Joseph Sasser, Kiya Rice, Brandon Goodyear, Paul Krause, Kevin Sutton and Mark Gaylen.
As James would say, “I’ll have fun till you get here!”
James is survived by his wife, Tesa Cornett of the home; his daughter, Katelyn Cornett and his son, Colton Cornett both of the home; his mother, Beverly Perry of Middlesex; his grandfather, J.P. Perry of Kenly; sisters, Christine “Boo” Cornett of Zebulon, Angel Marie Durham of Middlesex, and Jessica Cornett of Bailey; his uncle that he loved as a father, Marty Perry of Kenly, and uncle, Ricky Perry and wife, Annette of Kenly; his aunt, Teresa Ellis of Virginia, and Missy, Crystal and Johnny his special cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Dorothy Perry.
