James Darrell Farmer
August 27, 1967 – April 4, 2015
James “Darrell” Farmer, 47, of Sims passed away Saturday. His funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. The Rev. Tony Moore and the Rev. Frankie Elliott will officiate.
Darrell was a loving husband, father, son, brother and a friend to all that knew him. He was a salesman of lumber and cars, who loved to fish and hunt. His great personality of being funny and honest, his gift of giving with never asking for anything in return, living his life to the fullest and never knowing a stranger, will leave memories where he will be remembered and thought of often with love.
Darrell is survived by his wife, Mary E. Farmer of Sims; his daughter, Leah Farmer of Sims; his mother, Betty “Janice” Lewis of Wilson; his brother, John Ashley Farmer of Wilson; his niece, Hannah Howell of Kenly; his nephews, Jameson Farmer of Youngsville and Eli Kicklighter of Kenly; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; his sister-in-law, Rebecca Kicklighter and husband, Gene of Kenly; father and mother-in-law, Frankie and Carolyn Elliott of Wilson and his beloved “Ma!Ma!” and “Memie”, Mary and Mildred Elliott, both of Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Ray Farmer, step-father, Bill Lewis; maternal grandparents, Ellie and Eula Durham, and paternal grandparents, John and Rosa Lee Farmer.
The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks for everyone’s help and support during their time of need. A special thanks to Teddy and Willis Teen Lamm, Aaron and Kelly Phillips, Glenn Blackwell, Greg Baker, Ron and Dave Lamm, Sissy Farmer, and Sandra Corbett, and their neighbors, Ray and Lisa Harrell and Jason Pipkin, for all their love, caring and time every day during Darrell’s illness.
