James Etheridge Glasgow, Sr., 88, of Wilson passed away Thursday.  A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 o’clock a.m. Monday at The Church of St. Therese.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson.  The Rev. Gregory Lowchy will officiate. Mr. Glasgow will be remembered for his gentle spirit, kindness, and unparalleled commitment to his work and family.  He was a graduate of Campbell University in business and had further study at NC State University in Forestry.  James married the love of his life, Mary Frances Raper in 1952 and they celebrated fifty-four years of marriage before her passing in 2007.  James joined the US Army in May of 1954 and served in the Korean Conflict as a Radio Relay Officer and Carrier Operator.  During his service, he was awarded the Army Occupation Medal (Germany), the National Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.  He was the owner and founder of the J.E. Glasgow Logging Company, Inc., for fifty-one years.  Even in retirement he continued to work part-time with US Securities until the age of eighty-seven.  James was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Therese Catholic Church. James is survived by his daughter, Lillian “Dee Dee” Glasgow Rhodes and husband, Cecil David Rhodes, III of Atlanta, GA; his sons, James E. “Jamie” Glasgow, Jr. of Wilson and Richard Todd Glasgow of Wilson; his granddaughters, Rebecca Frances Rhodes and Sarah Jean Rhodes both of Atlanta, GA and his sisters, Jane Glasgow Behnken of Belleaire Bluffs, FL, Elizabeth Glasgow Wilson of Elizabethtown, NC and Amelia Glasgow Dietz and husband, Stephen of Richmond, VA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Raper Glasgow; his parents, Haywood Lawrence Glasgow and Lillian Pepper Glasgow and his sisters, Alice Glasgow Mackenzie and Frances Glasgow Phares. A Rosary will be held 6:30 p.m. Sunday prior to the family receiving friends from 7 – 9 p.m.  at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway.
