James David Parris July 13, 1938 – April 3, 2014

James David “J.D.” Parris, 75, of Lucama passed away Thursday. A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Little Rock Original Free Will Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Watson Family Cemetery, Lloyd Road, Lucama. The Rev. Dr. DeWayne Eakes will officiate.

The family will receive friends 1:30 – 2:45 p.m. Sunday prior to the service at Little Rock Original Free Will Baptist Church, 6115 Little Rock Church Road, Lucama and other times at the home.

JD loved Little Rock Original Free Will Baptist Church where he served his Lord. His wife, children, and his grandchildren were his world. After his retirement from Dinner Bell Foods, he enjoyed spending time woodworking in his shop. He was known for his humor, long stories and famous for his BBQ chicken. His dogs, Bandit and Santana were loved by him and part of his family.

JD is survived by his wife, Charlene W. Parris of the home; his daughters, Phyllis Woodley and husband, Terry of Rocky Mount and Susan Binger and husband, Mike of Stokesdale; his step-daughters, Dee Dee Oliver and husband, Brian of Wilson and Tracey Barnes and husband, Corey of Wilson; his step-son, Shawn Briscoe of Wilson; his granddaughter, Kenan Mills and husband, Stephen; his grandson, Zachary Woodley; his step-granddaughters, Jazmine Briscoe and Maggie Oliver; his step-grandson, Jamie Oliver; his brothers, Doug Parris and wife, Linda of Clayton and Edgar Parris and wife, Joann of Wilson and his sisters, Frances Parris of Wilson and Betty Gray Yelverton and husband, George of Eureka, as well as a much loved extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lena Parris; his sister, Reba Parris and his brothers, Joe Parris, Robert Parris and Charles Parris.
