James “Jimmy” Ervin Stancil, 94, of Elm City passed away Saturday.  A graveside service will be conducted 3:30 p.m. Monday in Evergreen Memorial Park.  Rebecca Roberson will officiate.   The family will receive friends 2 – 3 p.m. Monday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times at the home.   Jimmy was an Army Ranger during WWII, serving in the Pacific.  He was the owner and president of Quality Truck Bodies.  Jimmy loved hunting and gardening, and all of his dogs.  He was greatly loved by his family and friends and will be thought of often and dearly missed.   He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Turnage Stancil; his son, Jim Stancil; his parents, Jack and Amanda Ellis Stancil; his sister, Nellie Langley and his brothers, Sam, Howard and Bruce Stancil.   Jimmy is survived by his son, Ronnie K. Stancil and wife, Ann of Grovetown, Georgia; his daughter-in-law, Paula F. Stancil of Beaufort; his granddaughters, Ashley Stancil-Myers and husband, Scott of Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts, Heather S. Stockton and husband, Mike of Long Creek, South Carolina; his grandson, Jason M. Stancil of Moose Pass, Alaska; his great-grandchildren, Eli, Silas and Levi Stockton and Rita and Phoebe Myers; his brother, Roland Stancil and wife, Raymeta of Rocky Mount and his special friend, Linda Batts and her granddaughter, Lizzie Baker of Elm City.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Hospice and Palliative Care of Nash General Hospital, 2460 Curtis Drive, Rocky Mount, NC  27804 or the ALS Association, 4 N Blount Street, Suite 200, Raleigh, NC  27601.   Condolences may be directed to www.joyners.net.
