James "Tootsie" Herbert Council

James “Tootsie” Herbert Council, 85 of Wilson passed away Thursday, December 14, 2023.  Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday evening at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson.  Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson.  Reverand Carroll Bradbury will officiate.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening immediately following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.

Tootsie served his country honorably and faithfully with the United States Air Force, and he was member of Cherry Point Masonic Lodge 0688. 

Tootsie is survived by his daughter-in-law, Angie Council of Wilson; granddaughter, Jama Flanagan and husband, Jake of Farmville; great-grandchildren, Jase, Jessa, and Jamie Faye; his brother, Hugh Earl Council and wife, Romona of Pinetops, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Walston Council, and his son, James “Jamie” Herbert Council, Jr.
