James R. Viverette

James R. “J.R.” Viverette passed away August 27, 2016. His funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. The family will receive friends immediately following the service Wednesday evening till 9 p.m. A private graveside service will be conducted.
“J.R.” was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved the outdoors, hanging out by the pool in the summer, playing with his dog Maggie and working in his wood shop. “J.R.” served his country with honor with the U.S. Army in 1953 for two years and the Army Reserve for eight years until 1964. After his return from the Army he moved to Wilson where he worked as an auto mechanic, then in engineering at Wilson Medical Center and with Eastern Carolina Pathology, until his retirement. “J.R.” was loved by many and will be missed by all that knew him.
“J.R.” is survived by his wife, Anne Pittman Viverette of the home; his daughter, Patricia Ann Phillips of Wilson; his sons, Roger A. Viverette and wife, Debbie of Wilson and Ronnie Glen Viverette and wife, Connie of Elm City; step-daughters, Vicky H. Bradley and husband, Ernie of Garner, and Marsha H. Farrell and, husband, Greg of Raleigh; his granddaughters, Angela P. Webb and husband, Greg of Wilson, Kelly V. Gary and husband, Mike of Bailey, and Kristin N. Viverette of Elm City, and fiancé, Shayne Stanley; step-grandson, Les Bass and wife, Beth of Elm City; step-granddaughter, Abby Nicole Farrell of Raleigh; his great-grandchildren, Katherine Elizabeth Webb, Nicolas Matthew Webb, Hayden James Gary, Jordan Michael Gary, Shyanne Nicole Stanley, and Aubree Jane Stanley, and several nieces and nephews, from Nashville, Henderson, and Greenville.
He was preceded in death by his baby daughter; his parents, Jim and Stella Viverette; brothers, Robert Earl Viverette and Jimmy Viverette, and his sister, Nancy Strickland.
