Jane Crystal Rogers Stout
September 12, 1935 – November 6, 2018
Jane Crystal Rogers Stout of Wilson, known to many as Mema, passed away on November 6th surrounded by her family. She was born in Granville County on September 12, 1935 to Ralph Wiley Rogers, Sr. and Grace Harris Rogers. Jane graduated from Durham Senior High and attended Lees McCrae College. She held positions with Durham County, the UNC Statistical Department, the Institute for Defense Analysis and the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff. In 1962, she married Stephen Early Stout at Durham’s Watts Street Baptist Church, and moved to Wilson in 1966, where she lived the remainder of her life.
Her pleasures in life were her family, friends, bridge, golf, the beach and traveling.
Jane is survived by her husband of fifty-six years, Stephen; her son Stephen Neil Stout and wife Holly, and their children Will and Turner of Powhatan, Virginia; her daughter Crystal Bruton and husband Sidney, and their children Seth and his wife Katie, Gray and his wife Shannon and their children, Trent and Claire of Kenly; and daughter Amanda Bell and husband Mike, and their children Kate and Luke of Auburn, Alabama. She is also survived by her brothers, Ralph Wiley Rogers, Jr. and wife, Sharon of Charleston, South Carolina and the Reverend Dr. John S. Rogers and wife, Joyce of Asheboro and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Billie Rogers McGee.
The family will receive friends Friday November 9th, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 311 Nash Street, Wilson. With a service to celebrate her life following at 11 a.m.
