Janet Yvonne Poole

Janet Yvonne Poole June 16, 1958 – February 12, 2021 Janet Yvonne Poole, 62, of Wilson, passed away on February 12 with her loving husband, Sammy, by her side. Janet was born on June 16, 1958 to Dorothy Davis Garris and William “Bill” Genn Garris of Wilson. She graduated from Fike High School in 1976 and married Keith Cobb, with whom she shared two children. She worked as the office manager at Wilson Packing Company for over twenty years and considered Cliff and the others there her family. Janet enjoyed being a part of a crochet group, baking and decorating cakes. She was notorious for starting her Christmas shopping in January of every year—she loved to give gifts! After retirement, Janet prioritized time with friends and family and lived primarily near Swansboro where she made many new friends in her neighborhood at Buttons Family Campground. Janet will be greatly missed by her family. She is survived by her husband of twenty years, Johnnie “Sammy” Poole and her sons, Derek Cobb of Greensboro and Brentley Cobb and wife, Jodi of Durham; stepdaughters, Lisa Cobb of Fountain, Allison Poole El Gamal and husband, Sammy of Westport, Connecticut; stepson, Andy Poole and Tabitha of Clermont, Florida; sisters, Gail Pierce and husband, Doug and Vickie Hales both of Wilson, and nieces, Kimberly Pierce of Swansboro, and Melissa Baker and husband, Al of Stantonsburg. One of Janet’s crowning achievements was becoming a much beloved “Grams” to Tag, Story, and Atlas Cobb, and Hannah, Farrah, Yaseen, and Dallia El Gamal, and Cole and Frankie Getty. Condolences directed to Joyner’s Funeral Home and Crematory at www.joyners.net.
