Janice King Abrams

Janice King Abrams passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson. Rev. Rusty Russell will officiate.

The family will receive friends prior to the service Saturday afternoon from 12:30 - 1:45 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.

Janice King Abrams was born and raised in Smithfield, North Carolina and was a proud native of Johnston County. She graduated from Smithfield High School and attended Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville, Tennessee. She was the owner of Janice’s Beauty Shop in Smithfield, for many years and later worked at Furniture Corner and Wilson Christian Academy in Wilson.

Janice is survived by her son, Stan Abrams and daughter-in-law Carol, and son, Phil Abrams; grandsons, Jonathan Abrams (Mattie), Stephen Abrams and Christopher Abrams; granddaughters, Caroline Kunz (Jon), Anna Grace Abrams and Kaitlin Abrams; great-grandson, Camden Abrams and beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers, and sisters- in-law.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Abrams; parents, Rufus and Bessie King, and brother Larry King.

Janice was a faithful member of Peace Church in Wilson where she served in the children’s ministry, the choir, and helped her husband lead a Sunday School class for many years.

Janice was a true example of a selfless person who always put others ahead of herself. She enjoyed making sure others were happy and provided for. She was the person in her family who could always be depended upon to sacrifice and meet the needs of others. Her life demonstrated Matthew 22:37-39 “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.”
