Janice Baker Robbins
April 27, 1946 – May 1, 2018
Janice Baker Robbins, 72, of Wilson passed away Tuesday. Her funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson. The Rev. Jack Stone will officiate.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 – 9 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home of her son, Phillip; 7134 Landrush Road, Sims.
Janice graduated from Fike High School in 1964 and married her husband, Gene in 1965. She worked at the Eastern NC School for the Deaf as an Administrative Assistance until her retirement. Janice was a devoted mother, grandmother, friend and sister. She loved serving the Lord and giving time to her church; Present Day Ministries. She served as the Chief Editor of the church’s newsletter, as well as the church’s song director. Janice volunteered her time to many of her friends who reside in rest homes and sang gospel music for residents of the Landing and Wilson Pines. She loved her gospel music and sharing her love of God with everyone.
For Janice, her life truly began when her grandchildren were born. She adored them beyond the moon. She was the greatest cook to her family, and especially famous for her “sweet pickle” Chicken Salad and her Crunchy Pudding.
Janice is survived by her daughter, Angela Robbins Carapella and husband, Paul of Tampa, Florida; son, Phillip Robbins and wife, Becky of Sims; her grandchildren, Elijah Phillip Robbins, Emma Grace Robbins, Annabelle Jordan Carapella, and Victoria Jane Carapella; brothers, Lloyd Baker and Thomas Baker both of Wilson, and her sisters, Annette Tyner of Princeton, and Connie Baker of Tarboro.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Robbins, and her parents, James L. “Buddy” and Bernice Speight Baker.
