Janice Lucas Wilson
July 16, 1953 – October 8, 2021
Janice Lucas Wilson, 68 of Black Creek passed away peacefully Friday, October 8, 2021.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Internment to follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson. Pastor Craig Simmons and Pastor Josh Preskitt will officiate. Janice loved colorful things, and has requested that you wear colorful clothing to her service.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:30 – 8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson, and other times at the home.
Janice used to own the The Flower Basket Florist, worked for other florists and was a cashier at Parker’s BBQ before the onset of arthritis and other health issues in the late 1980’s. Janice loved to sing, play the piano and organ, and participate in the Daniel’s Chapel Old Fashioned singing.
Janice is survived by her husband of thirty-one years, Earl Wilson; daughter, Melanie Leggett Scannell and husband, Tom of Raleigh, sisters, Gail Lucas Batchelor and husband, Dennis of Mooresville, and Sonia Lucas Beach and husband, Sid of Sims; grandson, Jacob Scannell of Charlotte; granddaughters, Lauren Beach of Sims and Katie Scannell of Raleigh, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great-great nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roman and Daisy Lucas, and infant niece, Kristen Beach.
