Jesse Roy Benton, 65, of Elm City passed away Saturday.  Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wilbanks Christian Church, Elm City.  Interment will follow in Elmwood  Cemetery, Fremont.  The Rev. Bobby White and the Rev. Dwight Batts will officiate. The family will receive friends 6 – 8 p.m. Monday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home. Jesse was a loving and wonderful husband, father, granddaddy, brother and friend.  He had a big heart and loved his family.  He will be missed and thought of often with memories of laughter, joy and smiles that will last forever. Jesse is survived by his wife, Linda Horne Benton of the home; his daughter, Jessica Ward and husband, De-Wayne of Elm City; his grandson, Jalen Ward; his granddaughters, Katelynn Ward and Sophie Ward; his brother, Ben Benton and wife, Cheryl of Pikeville and his sister, Becky Benton Rosen and husband, Hank of Pikeville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Allen and Estelle Varnell Benton and his sisters, Jane Lamm and Thelma Bissette.
