Jesus Raya Calderon, Sr. June 13, 1919 – February 24, 2016 Jesus Raya Calderon, Sr. 96, of Wilson passed away Wednesday surrounded by his loving family. His funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at The Church of St. Theresa, 700 Nash Street E, Wilson. Interment will follow in Bailey Town Cemetery. The priest Alberto Ortega will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5 - 9 p.m. at Joyner\'s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home. Jesus was a strong, caring, and loving man; his family was his heart and soul. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-father, and a friend to all that knew him. Jesus will be greatly missed and thought of often with lovely memories that will bring smiles. Jesus is survived by his loving wife of seventy years, Esther Raya; his daughters, Martha Raya Salazar, Ana Raya, Alicia Raya, Maria E. Raya, Olivia Raya, Martha Raya; his sons, Antonio Raya, Manuel Raya, Hipolito Raya, Roberto Raya, Jesus Raya, Jr., Rogelio Raya, and Alfredo Raya; seventy-four grandchildren; one hundred-thirty great-grandchildren, and twenty great-great-grandchildren.
