JoAnn Bunn Godwin

JoAnn Bunn Godwin, 67, of Wilson passed away on Thursday, October 12.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 17 at 5:00 pm at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.  Reverend Stan Jones and Reverend Jeff Smith will officiate.

Family will receive friends immediately following the funeral services at Joyner’s Funeral Home.

JoAnn’s passion was working with and teaching children, whether it was her thirty years spent teaching with Wilson County Schools or her eight years at Kiddie Kampus.  She also spent 30 years as a Sunday School teacher at Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church and worked with their girls’ ministry.

JoAnn also enjoyed keeping and playing with her six grandchildren, whom she adored.  She had a quick wit and a clever comeback for every occasion. 

JoAnn and her husband, Stan spent forty-seven years together after meeting at Winn Dixie, where she also met her lifelong best friend, Bobbie Jean Mincey.

Even through her courageous battle with cancer, she would always tell doctors and nurses, “God’s got it, so I am a winner either way!”

JoAnn is survived by her loving husband, Stanley Keith Godwin; brothers, Terry Jake Bunn and wife, Diane, Jerry Lamm Bunn and wife, Gail, and Randy Earl Bunn and wife, Carolyn; sister, Brenda Bunn Smith; sons, Brandon Keith Godwin and Stanley Brock Godwin and wife, Jordan; daughter, Amber Godwin Glover and husband, Bryant; grandchildren, Everett Brock Godwin, Noelle Jordyn Godwin, Merritt Reese Godwin, Carter Bryant Glover, Jake Benjamin Glover, and Wyatt Beau Glover; and sister-in-law, Cindy Bunn.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Jake Bunn and Naomi Lamm Bunn; brother, Gary Dale Bunn; and brother-in-law, Tommy Smith, Jr.
