Joann Tomlinson Merritt May 7, 1937 – August 6, 2020 Joann Tomlinson Merritt, 83 of Wilson passed away Thursday. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. Dr. Ken Barnes will officiate. Family and friends are welcome to pay respects Friday afternoon from 2 - 5 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Joann was a long-time member of Forest Hills Baptist Church. She was a wonderful person that lived a beautiful life. She will be greatly missed and thought of often with memories that will make you smile. Joann is survived by her daughter, Lynn M. Barnes and husband, Spencer; grandsons, Hunter Barnes and wife, Anna and Travis Barnes and wife, Catherine; four great-grandchildren, Weston Etheridge, William Barnes, Mary Hunter Barnes and Wally Barnes and her brother, James “Jimmy” Ray Tomlinson. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Norwood Earl Merritt; parents, Lewis Clifton and Mary Ann Hayes Tomlinson; sister, Edna T.
