Joe -Joedy- French Vaughan, 98, of Houston passed away Monday, March 25, 2013.-Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in Maplewood Cemetery with military honors.-The Rev. Ray Wells will officiate.

The family will receive friends Wednesday prior to the service from 9 - 10:30 a.m. at Joyner-s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway.

Joedy was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather that will be missed and thought of often with joyful memories.-He graduated from Catlettsburg High School, and after serving his country honorably with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during World War II, he retired after thirty three years working for the Federal Government.-Joedy-was on the original senior staff of the Peace Corps under Bill Moyers as established by President Kennedy in 1961.-The balance of his distinguished career was with the State Department where he served with the Agency for International Development.

Joedy-is survived by his children, Joe French Vaughan, Jr. and wife, Elma; William Thomas Vaughan and wife, Mary, and Charles David Vaughan and wife, Andrea; his beloved grandchildren, Matthew, Wendy and Joey Vaughan, Jimmy Pollock, and Jennifer Judy, and his great-grandchildren, Brianna Vaughan, and Brayden and Carson Judy.

He was preceded by in death by his wife of forty-nine years, Janie Elizabeth Guill Vaughan, and his brothers, Curtis, Charles and David Vaughan.
